Dear PGC Alumnae:

By now you are all back at school or, for our 2003 PGC Alums, already out of college! Whatever you are doing this fall, we hope it somehow involves music, especially singing!

This season, the PGC’s 15 th Anniversary season, the PGC has two special offerings for our Alumnae: the first is our Borel Private Bank and Trust Alumna Recognition Award. This award is presented biennially to one PGC Alumna who embodies the qualities of leadership, quality, integrity and accomplishment that are central to the PGC experience. There is an application form attached to this email – all PGC Alumnae who have not previously won this award are eligible to apply.

The second Alumnae offering is brand new, and is an outgrowth of my desire to have an Alumnae activity that would be interesting and musically rewarding for all of you. It is Sororis 16 , an Italian Sojourn. Sororis is Latin for “sisters,” and that is what the PGC envisions this group will be – sisters in a quest for musical knowledge and experience. There are 16 openings for singers to rehearse and perform in 4 quartets and combine to sing in up to eight part motets and madrigals during a two week stay in Ceriana, Italy; Ceriana is located just 8 miles from the famous Italian Riviera resort town of San Remo.

Each Sororis participant will be required to learn her part of 12-16 pieces of music before arriving in Ceriana; there she’ll work with Bob Ghiorzi and Cathy Wesolek on the combined numbers. The group will join several of Ceriana’s premiere choirs, experiencing music of Ceriana’s famous confraternities (dating back to 1340), and learning traditional Cerianese songs. The final concert will be shared by Sororis , and the choirs of Ceriana. Sororis is open to PGC Alumnae and current PGC seniors who will be ages 18 – 24 at time of travel. There is a more detailed explanation, along with a full application, attached to this letter. You may also go to our website, www.peninsulagirlschorus.org, to see a photo gallery of the area around Ceriana.

We are thrilled to be able to offer these two opportunities to our Alums-thank you for being part of our evolution; the Peninsula Girls Chorus became what it is today through your participation!

Warmest regards,

Catherine Doyle Wesolek
