Sororis: An Italian Sojourn

July 6 – 19, 2008

The Sororis Italian Sojourn is for PGC Alumnae who are looking to experience “How (Musical) Life Was” during the Middle Ages in Italy. Capture it, and bring it home. Sing with Ceriana’s premiere choirs, experiencing music of Ceriana’s famous confraternities, dating back to 1340, recreating this incredible ambiance. Explore hundreds of narrow cobblestone pathways and stone staircases that lead to beautiful churches, taverns, river, old olive mills, markets, spectacular vistas, and to the five medieval churches, where we will be learning some of the ancient repertoire, still alive in this remarkable town.

Selected PGC Alumnae will rehearse and perform in trios and quartets during a two week stay in Ceriana, Italy. Each quartet will join a confraternity (church) choir learning traditional Cerianese songs. The final concert will be shared by Sororis and the choirs of Ceriana.
